SUMMARY:Free Nature Mobile Workshop - Cruinniú na nÓg 2023
DESCRIPTION:We were delighted to host the launch of Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 earlier this month in the garden. For any newbies\, Cruinniú na nÓg is a nationwide day of creativity for young people and each year\, I run a free workshop in the garden as part of the nationwide event which falls on Saturday\, June 10th from 11am – 12.00pm. This year we’ll be creating colourful mobiles using natural and recycled materials. We’ll use wool wrapped twigs to create a mobile structure from which to hang all sorts of treasures collected from nature. \nThe workshop is open to children from 5 years and upward and younger children will need a parent or guardian to provide adult supervision for the duration of the workshop. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to any new members who have recently joined!\nWe missed having our usual PUB QUIZ in December – the World Cup got in the way – so we’re planning to hold a Mud Island QUIZ night in Cusacks\, 145 North Strand Road\, D3 on Tuesday 25th April\, starting promptly at 8 pm.  We suggest arriving at 7.30 pm to get your drinks in and think of a good name for your team – the best one might win a spot prize!\n\nThis time we’re experimenting with a Smartphone Quiz called SpeedQuizzing – no pens\, no paper and no cheating… It means we won’t have to mark answer sheets or add up the scores. Darren who does the Music Bingo on Sunday nights is being sponsored by Cusacks to run it for us\, so huge thanks to them!\n\nWe have some great prizes for a #raffle – all donated by the stall holders at our recent Spring Fair.  We’re only charging €10 per team of 4 people on the night\, so you’ll have lots of money to spare for raffle tickets! More prizes are always welcome if you have anything you’d like to donate.

DESCRIPTION:After a two year absence\, we’re delighted to be able to hold our usual annual Open Day.  This year it will be on Saturday 11th June from 2 to 5 pm.  Expect live music\, arts & crafts\, Wooly Farm animals\, refreshments and lots more!  It’ll be a chance to see all the developments in your local community garden\, enjoy some refreshments from the newly renovated cottage on site and catch up with friends and neighbours. \nWe’ll circulate more details as well as a poster for the Open Day shortly. In the meantime\, as always\, we’re looking for volunteers to help run the Cottage Cafe which is a great fund-raiser for the garden.  We’re also looking for donations of sweet and savoury treats to sell.  If you’d like to commit an hour of your time for the fun of working in the cafe\, or would like to bake something for it\, please let us know. \nSee some of you in the garden on the 11th June!

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again when thoughts turn to Mud Island’s annual Spring Fair! We’ve been missing it these past two years….\nThis year the Fair happily coincides with the Five Lamps Arts Festival\, so they’ll be curating some musical surprises for you on our Caravan stage. We’ll circulate full details of the fair later this week. If you haven’t paid your 2022 membership yet\, we’ll have a membership desk at the fair so you’ll have the opportunity to pay then. \nIn the meantime if any of you would like to volunteer an hour of your time to help out with the Cafe\, let us know? We need 18 volunteers – it helps to have three on at any one time. Also let us know if there’s a particular time between 12 and 6 pm that suits best? This year we hope to operate the cafe from the newly renovated cottage on site\, and this year all profits from the cafe will go towards our Ukrainian appeal. \nSee you at the fair on the 9th April!
